In Year 5, the children have been using objects to help them understand factors of a number in maths. The children needed to use the cubes to rearrange them in different ways to show the factors. The children were successful in their investigation and were able to find the answers.
After recent challenges, I am pleased to report how well Year 5 have settled back into school life and have adapted to changes and new routines. To enhance our learning in geography, a special visitor came into school to do a full day workshop all about Brazil. The children learnt lots of new facts whilst also recapping some they already knew. The children did this through dance, drama and song. A great day was had by all!
In our music lessons, the children are beginning to learn how to play the recorder. They are using their previously learnt knowledge of notation and applying this to playing the different notes on their new instrument. The children are working hard to ensure their fingers are correctly placed to achieve the right note and sound.
Linking into our work to do with South America, the children in Year 5 have had the opportunity to work with a visitor who is teaching them a carnival dance. The children so far have worked well to learn parts of a dance and add to this with their own beats of 8. The children … Continue reading
